We've heard of Lamar Seeligson Smith before, right? Yes, SOPA a year and a half ago.
He's back, and he's even more berserk. Now it's trying to cut funding to research in the social sciences that he doesn't approve of, namely anything that doesn't fit Republican political platforms. Wonderful, isn't it? The news article is here:

According to the Republican way, we should still be mostly living in mud, straw, and stone huts and have a life expectancy of about 40 because that was the state of science at the time the Bible was written.
Ah yes, some may say, but this is about research for the social sciences. Let's see, back then social sciences consisted of police beating up people who they didn't like in public. Now, surprise, surprise, police in the South still beat up people who they don't like in public for random excuses like spitting on the sidewalk--although I think that's a very socially irresponsible habit as it spreads diseases and is overall disgusting.
Back then the social sciences made people think going to a temple and praying would bring rain.
Given the south has a lot of white, male, lazy fanatics who insist on going back to the good old days of reclining on cushioned chairs and being fed grapes by slaves, I'm not surprised.
After all, there is only one solution we can adopt, we must "Drive Friendly, the Texas Way" at them to wipe this stain off of humanity's shoes. See this video at 1:07 for details of how to do it properly: [link]
